In What Is Left Behind each image captures an unexpected detail in the landscape, something, often a trace of human presence, that doesn’t quite belong captured by Natalie Lycops during her explorations out in the world.
Growing up in the quiet Belgian countryside, Natalie developed a deep connection to the natural world, which instilled a sense of slowness, grounding, and oneness. This way of being and seeing shapes her photographic practice. She is drawn to quiet moments, subtle details, small wonders that often go unnoticed, dark or eerie scenes, and things that often only she finds hilarious.
Exploring new places (a mix of escapism and a search for beauty) zooming in on details, and scanning for grids helps her feel grounded and make sense of the world and her place in it.
Natalie Lycops is a Belgian graphic designer, photographer, and visual artist who has experimented with various mediums. Her life and work unfold between Belgium and India.
